Stat-Keeper Guide
General Advice
- Stay calm. You will miss things and that is completely fine. Focus on the most important stats: shots (made/missed), fouls, and rebounds. Everything else is a bonus.
- Record what you see. If you are not sure whether something counts (e.g. was that an assist?), make a quick decision and move on. You can always edit it later.
- Don't stress about mistakes. The app lets you undo and correct actions. One wrong stat will not ruin anything.
- Prioritise scoring plays. Getting shots and free throws right matters most. Assists, steals, and blocks are secondary. If the game is fast-paced, focus on scoring and fouls first.

Computed Stats
The app automatically calculates these from the stats you record:
EFF (Efficiency)
EFF = (PTS + REB + AST + STL + BLK) - (FGA - FGM) - (FTA - FTM) - TO A single number summarising a player's overall positive and negative contributions. Higher is better. An EFF of 0 means the player's positive and negative contributions roughly cancelled out.
PIR (Performance Index Rating)
PIR = (PTS + REB + AST + STL + BLK + Fouls Drawn) - (FGA - FGM) - (FTA - FTM) - TO - Fouls Committed Similar to EFF but also accounts for fouls drawn (positive) and fouls committed (negative). Used in European basketball leagues. A more complete picture than EFF.
